Giving

The teachings of the Buddha are offered for free. They are our birthright. Because we are alive, Buddha nature is in us.

We ask that you give in support of the teachings and the temple if you are able.

  • Become a member of the Heart Sangha and give a recurring, monthly donation.

  • Give a one-off donation to Heart Sangha. We can receive Venmo or cash.

  • Volunteer your time. A sangha is a co-op that creates the causes and conditions for the teachings.

  • We need an umzed for every Sunday Sangha

  • We need temple keepers to set up and return the room

  • Sign up for these roles on this spreadsheet

  • Volunteer your skills. Original watercolors are a gift from Tanika Pook Panyarachun

Dana

In Buddhism we say that generosity is a practice. What does this mean? Generosity, dana, is the first of the Six Paramitas, the Six Perfections. It opens the heart. When we prepare to give, we have the opportunity to go inside and notice what we are holding. Where is there constriction? Where is there expansion?

True generosity can melt the heart, preparing the way for the next Perfections: discipline, patience, diligence, meditation, and wisdom. When the heart is open, the ego is almost gone.
