Practice with Heart Sangha

Practice integrates the intellectual understanding of the dharma into our bodies. Heart Sangha exists with the aspiration to bridge this gap.

When we sit together, we bring the medicine of the dharma through our past, into our bodies, and digest it so that our intention and what comes out in action are aligned with our values.

Practice ignites lasting change.

Sunday Sangha

Join our welcoming open house for anyone curious about Buddhist practice and community.

Each gathering includes meditation, time for connection, and a dharma talk from our guiding teacher, Sunisa Manning. All are welcome—whether you’re new to practice or looking to deepen your roots in sangha.

Join us in person or on Zoom for Sunday Sangha. We begin with a guided 45-minute meditation, followed by a tea break to connect with fellow practitioners. Our guiding teacher, Sunisa, then offers a 45-minute dharma talk.

Sundays are open to everyone, regardless of background or experience. Please arrive before 10am to settle in; cushions, chairs, and liturgy booklets are provided.

Time: 10am–noon EST

 Practice Groups

Come sit with a supportive community of fellow meditators.

For those just beginning, we offer a gentle introduction to meditation and the foundations of mindfulness. For experienced practitioners, we hold space to deepen practice and explore the dharma in community.

Learn to meditate with Heart Sangha

New Practice is for people who’ve always wanted to learn to use the vehicle of the breath to settle the mind and the body. The benefits of meditation are myriad, yet as with any habit it’s hard to install it on your own. Sit with people in the same stage as you, with the same aspiration.

We’ll start with posture, and build our understanding of how to rest the attention on the breath. Then we’ll move to a second type of meditation where we watch the current of our thoughts flow by. This is shamata and vipassana meditation.

Sessions are four weeks long and by donation. If you have signed up, please commit to a full session and come.

New Practice is led by Olga Liu, one of Heart Sangha’s core members. Our guiding teacher, Sunisa Manning, leads at least one New Practice meeting in every session.

  • New Practice meets on Tuesdays, from 7-8 PM

  • 2025 October Practice: October 7 through October 28

  • 2025 November Practice: November 11 through December 2

  • To sign up, please email Olga

Move from daily solo practice into a deeper relationship with the dharma

This group is for dedicated practitioners who want to use the container of these times to fall into a deeper practice and engagement with the dharma. This group will sit with more silence. We pre-suppose that posture, resting the concentration on the breath, and working with your thoughts is familiar to you. The group is currently engaging with the wisdom of emptiness in the Heart Sutra.

Deep Practice meets in a fall, winter, and spring session. You must be a member of Heart Sangha to participate. We ask that if you join, please make a firm commitment to come to that season’s session.

Deep Practice is led by Brian Miller, one of Heart Sangha’s core members. Our guiding teacher, Sunisa Manning, leads at least one Deep Practice meeting every month.

  • Deep Practice meets on Mondays, from 7-8 PM

  • 2025 Fall Session: October 6 through December 8, 2025

  • 2026 Winter Session: January 5 through March 9, 2026

  • 2026 Spring Session: March 16 through May 18, 2026

  • To sign up, please email Brian
